2022 CityArtist

With generous support from the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, I will be hosting a reading, conversation, and exhibit of art by Maki at the Parlor and Gallery at Open Books in Seattle:

Join us September 24 from 2-3 in the Parlor at Open Books as we read from recent work and discuss how we experiment with form to render the voices, rhythms, and images of the places that sustain and challenge us.

Leading up to the event, art by Maki will be on display in the Gallery at Open Books.

Maki is a painter, illustrator, and community art facilitator whose work has been shown in Belfast and Japan.

Matt Young is the author of the memoir Eat the Apple (Bloomsbury, 2018) and the forthcoming novel End of Active Service (Bloomsbury, 2024).

Kalehua Kim is a Native Hawaiian poet living in the Seattle area. Her poems have appeared in Poetry Northwest, Denver Quarterly, Calyx, and ‘Ōiwi, A Native Hawaiian Journal

The event is free and open to the public.
